Nyhtökaura by Golden & Green Foods is a Finnish innovation that is designed as a meat substitute. Available as three flavours made from oats, peas and fava beans it has over 30/100g protein. The nearest place serving this dish is found in Kamppi shopping mall on the 0th floor in a restaurant complex K6. The meal costs around 10€. It is a Finnish treat to the world.
Open mon-sat 18-23 on Bulevardi 34, 00120 Helsinki. Served is an excellent Finnish traditional reindeer meat dish from Lapland costing 23,50€. It is possibilie to reach them via phone and make a reservation at 09 7425 5544, although this is recommendable it is not necessary.
Ravintola Lappi is part of the same enterprise and is situated closer to the city centre at Annankatu 22, 00100 Helsinki. Opening hours are 16.00-22.30. It is Anthony Bourdains recommendation from Helsinki.
The easy and hip place for anything Raw. Their cafe serves super-smoothies and delicious cakes & their main buffet reaches far and sells at 22,30 kg. They serve quality 90% organic and healthy hand-made foods. They are located in Hakaniemi at Toinen Linja 7, 00530 Helsinki. The cafe opens at 8 and the buffet at 11 until 19 on weekdays and 10-18 and 11-18 on saturdays serving breakfast at early hours. Founded and catered by Finnish Michelin Star chefs that combined their experience to serve locally grown all-natural & seasonal products changing their menu weekly. It is brand new that being the reason for still reasonable prices. The 4-dish menu lightens a wallet by only 40€. A restaurant 5 minute walk away from city centre serving traditional Finnish cousine. There you will get a taste of traditional Finnish cuisine like reindeer steak, pike burger, noble crayfish bread etc. Its also the place Jackie Chan visited on his very short trip in Helsinki. Chef & Sommelier
A recently opened fine-dining restaurant 15 minute walk away from the city centre in Ullanlinna. The restaurant concentrates on organic ingredients, and also uses ingredients from the nature and from Fairtrade. Find them at Huvilakatu 28.
Ask is a small and intimate restaurant with 26 seats in the nice area of Kruununhaka in Helsinki. They offer a daily set menu with carefully selected beverage menus. Their ingrediets come from small farmers and producers. All products comes from organic or biodynamic farming, except the game, wild fish and other foraged products. Adress is Vironkatu 8.
A bistro located at an old warehouse at Katajanokka serving traditional Finnish cuisine. Kanavaranta 8.
A restaurant located 10 minutes walk away from city centre in Kasarmikatu. Chef Pekka Terävä’s simply rendered and relaxed gastropub doesn’t focus on any specific culinary style. Instead he offers a robust pan-European menu that features dishes like a comforting crab cake flavored with fennel and coriander; a plate of lamb neck that’s been vacuum-poached to tender perfection for two days; and a flakey, salt-baked trout. Emo has a solid beverage program, too, with many of its wines exclusive to just a few Helsinki restaurants, and exciting, seasonal drink pairings on offer, like an upcoming beer pairing for Oktoberfest. Find them at Kasarmikatu 44 in the city center near the beautiful Esplanadi Park.
From Pure Hero opened a new quality food, cafe, roastery and Barista Institute in the centre of Helsinki at Forum shopping centre. Kluuvi kauppakeskus at Aleksanterinkatu 9, 00100 Helsinki is open from Mon-Thurs 7.30 – 21.00, Fri 7.30 – 23.00, Sat 9.00 – 23.00 and Sun 10.00 – 19.00.
Johan & Nyström
The place for coffee. They serve organic independent small grown products from altitudes of over 2km. The ambience of their estate and the location near the Old Orthodox Chapel and sea make it a perfect coffee experience. They are located at Kanavaranta 7 C, 00160 Helsinki. Allas Sea Pool
Allas Sea Pool, located a stone’s throw away from the Helsinki marketplace, proudly stands in one of the best locations in the city. Löyly (also has a sauna; hence the name)
Enjoy new sauna experiences beside the sea in a cool urban milieu all year round. The Löyly design sauna was opened in May just a short distance from the city centre on the southern tip of the Helsinki peninsula. The modern complex also has a restaurant serving the finest Finnish cuisine, which you can enjoy while admiring the stunning views from the large terrace that stretches out over the sea. Covering over 1800 square metres including terraces and with a profile height of 9 metres, the impressive building is a real design attraction as an example of contemporary wooden architecture. If you’re keen to try the local spirits, look for concoctions made with Koskenkorva (or Kossu), a clear spirit distilled from barley, similar to vodka, or Jaloviina (cognac cut with water). And if all this drinking is making you hungry, the venue also offers a special dining experience complimented by themed dining areas, each dish on the menu is inspired from a scene from Finnish culture, with a quirky cocktail to match, of course. The bar also hosts regular cocktail events, where you can learn the art of cocktail making and discover the flavours and ideas behind your favourite concoction. Situated at Annankatu 21.
Outdoor & Exercise
Mikko Kemppe´s center is equipped with a float tank, cryogenic chamber, infra-red therapy, brain wave stimulation and neurofeedback equipment. The first and only Biohacking Center in Finland by one of our hosts Mikko is a feel at home place for any Biohacker with a private gym for your free use. This is a welcoming place where superfoods, self development, technology & the “Superhuman Operating System” come together beautifully! Uutela’s Outdoor Reserve is situated at the last metro stop of Vuosaari on the east edges of Helsinki. It is 20min by metro in addition to a short bus ride away. They have in the shapes of an eight well marked 1,5km and 2,5km paths at a seaside forest area. The starting address is Uutelantie 1 and reaching there is possible by Uber or metro M1 (to Vuosaari) and bus 90 to Aurinkotuulenkatu following a 300m walk. Suggestable for a short Finnish Forest Intergration. For deeper integration look up Nuuksio national park and find the most suitable routes there.
Töölönlahden ranta is a beautiful place in the city centre for jogging, walking and relaxing by the waterside. Included are street workout places and activities for a cool day out or a morning routine.
Yrjönkatu Swimming Hall
For a sauna and swim, these art deco baths are a Helsinki institution – a fusion of soaring Nordic elegance and Roman tradition. There are separate hours for men and women. Nudity is compulsory in the saunas; bathing suits are optional in the pool. At Yrjönkatu 21b behind Forum shopping center.
